NuStats is a full-service survey research firm dedicated to providing relevant information to clients to help them make sound business decisions. Much of our research helps to improve the quality of life of the audiences we survey. Our staff consists of employees with diverse skills in areas such as research, political science, economics, environmental policy, communications, geography, health policy and urban planning.

We're always looking for new talent and have frequent job opportunities in project management, data analysis, statistical services, programming, database management and geographic information. Our corporate office is in beautiful Austin, Texas. We also have a satellite office in the Washington, D.C. area. Position # 1 -

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Department: Administration And Finance

Role Qualifications:

  • Understand and follow company, accounting and accounts payable processes, procedures and guidelines
  • Perform all duties related to accounts payable and provide other accounting support
  • Maintain verifiable records of accounts payable source documents for audit
Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and verify appropriate approval for bill payment and disbursements
  • Enter invoices into accounting system, conforming to accounting schedule
  • Generate checks and distribute payments for employees and vendors
  • Post cash disbursements
  • Maintains accounts payable files
  • Communicate with vendors about invoice payment status
  • Reconcile/resolve vendor statements and vendor inquiries to system records
  • Prepare and make bank deposits
  • Coordinate cash incentives with Project Team Leaders, bank and fulfillment center
  • Manage 1099s, securing W-9s and producing annual 1099s in a timely manner
  • Print and distribute monthly project labor and direct labor reports
  • Prepare back up documentation for client invoices
  • Perform general accounting duties, such as account reconciliations, audit support, problem solving, etc.

Job Title: Programming Associate II

Department: Programming and Technology

Role Qualifications: Create and modify data management systems and related processes to ensure quality control in a RAD (rapid application development) environment. Most programs require integrated system design considerations.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule work, seek out and accept assignments to maximize billable hours
  • Coordinate with task and team leaders to develop a system design of the data management and related system processes required to support project needs
  • Maintain timely communications with task and team leaders
  • Create and/or modify integrated data management systems and related processes
  • Process data to ensure quality control
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors in relevant field and 0-3 years experience specifically related to research or related job or high school and 8 years experience specifically related to research or job requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of field and competence to work at a high level
  • Competent to work independently and/or lead and coordinate team activities.
  • Able to apply knowledge to multiple environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of a database system, preferably MS Access and/or SQL Server

Position # 3 -


Job Title: Data Coder /Auditor Classification: Assistant to Associate Level

Department: Database Development and Quality Management

Position Summary: Analyze and clean location and non-location data, process data on a daily basis on one or more projects. Responsible for checking data for logical consistency, accuracy, and completeness - and correcting according to established standards.

General Purpose: Clean raw data utilizing project customized edit check programs; compile reports; analyze data; manage data flow. Will be cross-trained to code both location and non-location data).

Role Qualifications (Non-Location Data Coding):
  • Working knowledge of various software platforms and databases including, but not limited to, ArcView, SPSS, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Must be able to manipulate data and transfer between various software packages (e.g., from Dbase to SPSS to Access).
  • Must have logical thinking capabilities (e.g., ability to know when a response to a question is reasonable or not).
  • Ability to recode open-ended responses either from initial development of codes or from a list of predetermined codes.
  • Must understand science behind skip patterns for a given survey and the ability to run frequencies, cross-tabulations, and descriptive outputs and check for data quality.
Role Qualifications (Location Data Coding):
  • Knowledgeable of geocoding process including project set up (secure and set-up coverage files), geocoding, and quality control checks of location data.
  • Ability to geocoded location data (i.e., code addresses/cross-streets to an x/y coordinate using geocoding tools such as coverage/shape files, look-up tables, and Internet resources.
  • Ability to perform logic checks of location data (i.e., distance between two points are logical based on other respondent-provided data) using both automated programs and manual techniques as appropriate.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Geocode, examine, verify, or correct location data using available tools
  • Code ,examine, verify, or correct survey data using available tools
  • Exercise originality to suggest new ways to solve problems and to efficiently conduct coding
  • Extract raw data, code data as prescribed by the data coordinator, compile reports
  • Test data collection program (VOXCO) to verify consistency with final survey instrument.
  • Draft, for data coordinator review, the project data items matrix, which contains information on survey data file (original variables, recoded variables, newly created variables, and variables incorporated into the dataset).
  • Work with team including other coders and data coordinators
  • Must be able to monitor and report project progress to Data Coordinator.

  • Bachelors in relevant and no experience or high school and 3-4 years experience specifically related to survey research or related job requirements.
