Health Research

NuStats specializes in market segmentation studies for health care entities. We conduct qualitative studies and analysis of health care topics such as health insurance for children, tobacco prevention for teens and Medicare for senior citizens. Our services include study management, sample recruitment, data collection, and interpretation of results.

NuStats delivers research that reflects the needs of specific market segments targeted by health care entities. In recent years, many health care issues have surfaced, such as a growing population of elder Americans and the declining standard of living faced by impoverished children. At NuStats, we work with clients to address these challenging problems and provide detailed analysis that offers viable solutions.

Tobacco Prevention Pilot Campaign

For the Texas Department of Health, NuStats is conducting campaign development and post-campaign tracking for the Tobacco Prevention Program Pilot Test. NuStats partners with EnviroMedia of Austin for this study, the advertising agency of record for the Texas Department of Health. In a series of focus groups with teens in East Texas, NuStats uncovered the concept preferences of teens, both those who smoke and those who don't, that led to the creation of an ad campaign targeting smokers. The campaign features an animated Duck - a concept chosen during the focus groups. Following the campaign run, NuStats plans a tracking study to gauge awareness and recall of the campaign.

National Youth Sports Program Study

The Inter-University Program for Latino Research (IUPLR), on behalf of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS), commissioned NuStats to administer market research for the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP). The study included five on-site qualitative visits and a quantitative benchmark survey of NYSP participants. For the qualitative study, NuStats observed and interviewed NYSP staff and participants. The quantitative survey gathered health-related information on youth age 10 to 16 years.

Horizons Medicare Materials Study

For the Health Care Finance Administration, NuStats conducted a qualitative study and quantitative survey. The research will help develop more culturally and linguistically competent information and dissemination strategies regarding Medicare materials for Hispanic beneficiaries. This project attempts to break fairly new ground and deals with a population segment that is frequently on the margin of the research work that influences public policy.
